But it appears to be a fools earned. And the drone laws seem to be complicated. I wasn’t expecting a “cheap” drone to be $400.

Helium balloon of medium size, long rope.

The rc aircraft laws are pretty straightforward. Stay below 500 feet, line of sight, and I think a mile away from an airport.

You can get cheaper helicopter or quad rotor to learn how to fly first. A more expensive one will have more autonomous features like hovering.

Do you know if the cheaper ones have a go pro mount?

I rarely laugh out loud when I see comments. This comment made me laugh pretty loud.

Not built in but you can add one if it has the payload capacity. If you don’t know how to fly and don’t want to build one yourself, you’re better off buying something like the phantom for a few hundred dollars that should keep itself out of trouble

You just want video for the cool factor or something?

Quadcopters are about the most boring of RC craft to pilot. Unless you're dead set on video, you can have a hell of a lot more fun learning on a cheap fixed wing like a Slow Stick then graduating up to scale planes or 3d flyers. Then moving on to helicopters. Quads are like driving the cars at Disneyland that have the little track in the middle to keep you from actually having fun.

I already have a go pro so I want a quad for the ability to shoot video. Something fun to do with a go pro for cool ariel shots
